Preserving With Purpose - Ittner's Legacy

Brought to you by the Historic Preservation Commission and the Kellerman Foundation Historic Preservation Commission

Monday, May 12 5:30 p.m. 401 Independence Free, Public Walking Tour

Each May, in honor of Historic Preservation Month, the Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) hosts a tour of historic buildings in the city and/or a presentation on historic preservation. This year, the HPC is pleased to host an event at the Kellerman Foundation for Historic Preservation’s new home, located in the historic Lorimier School building at 401 Independence Street. Join the HPC and the Kellerman Foundation to learn about the building’s 88-year history, with tours of its exterior and interior, followed by a presentation on its famed architect, William B. Ittner. Hear from Dr. Mary Ann Kellerman about exciting plans underway to reimagine and repurpose the former school building as a museum and a center for preservation! Plentiful parking is available behind the building. Refreshments and reception to follow, sponsored by the Center for Regional History and Old Town Cape.

The Historic Preservation Commission encourages and engages in activities pertaining to the preservation of the community’s historic resources including a number of programs that educate the community about the value of historic properties and historic preservation. These programs are listed on their website or contact us to learn more.
