Police Records

Welcome to the Cape Girardeau Police Department’s Records Unit. Here you can request records, incident reports, public information, and crash reports.

We encourage you to read this page carefully to ensure you submit the correct type of request. Our process for receiving and fulfilling requests has recently changed.

Requesting Police Incident Reports, Calls for Service, and Other Police Records

The Cape Girardeau Police Department has launched a new online records request portal. GovQuest allows residents, media partners, attorneys, and others to request both digital media and police records online.

The online portal is the preferred way to submit, receive, and pay for records requests. To use the system:

  1. Create a free GovQuest account with your contact information and a secure password.
    • If you already have an account, simply log in and navigate to the records request platform.
  2. Submit your request electronically.
  3. Track your request as it is processed.

With a registered account, you can:

  • Receive status notifications about your request.
  • Communicate directly with our agency regarding questions.
  • Provide supplemental information if needed.
  • Download requested records and store them in your account.
  • Review your request and payment history.
  • Pay securely online.

Payment:  Online payments are accepted by card. A small processing fee applies, which goes to the credit card company and website vendor.
