The City Council is the elected governing body for the City of Cape Girardeau and consists of the Mayor and six City Council Members. The Mayor is directly elected at-large (city-wide) for a four-year term and the City Council Members are elected from six wards for staggered four-year terms. Cape Girardeau is a "home rule" city with the Council-Manager form of government.

Meeting Participation - Items NOT on the Agenda

The Mayor may recognize city residents who have completed the request form below to address items not appearing on the Regular Session agenda. Registration requests must be received no later than 8:00 a.m. on the date of the Council meeting. Incomplete or unclear requests will not be considered.

When recognized by the Mayor, the speaker will be given up to 3 minutes to speak, and the full time allotted for all appearances will be 15 minutes.
