The Cape Girardeau Police Department houses a 20-bed, direct-supervision jail facility used primarily to house prisoners awaiting municipal trial or serving time for municipal ordinance violations. The jail is staffed by a jailer 24/7 and is supervised by the Commander of the Operations Support Division.
Designated prisoners are allowed to perform community service work in order to satisfy financial obligations to the city of Cape Girardeau while serving their jail sentence.
Inmate visitation is allowed on Saturdays and Sundays only, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. by appointment only. Visitations must be scheduled more than 24 hours in advance by calling the Jail Unit at 573-339-6748.
Outside inmate property is prohibited in the jail.
