About the Fire Station 1
Built in 1980, Fire Station 1 serves the southeast quadrant of the city and also houses the Department’s Administrative Offices. The busiest of all four fire stations, Station 1’s first-due district consists of older construction and more densely-populated blocks including the downtown area, many historic buildings and homes, an array of apartment buildings and homes, off-campus housing, Southeast Hospital, and the Mississippi River.

Battalion 1
2017 Chevrolet Suburban 4X4 with command module and communications equipment used by the on-duty shift Battalion Chief.
Ladder 1
2017 Rosenbauer Commander 109′ Straight Aerial Ladder, Cummins ISX 525 diesel engine with GreenStar Technology, llison 4000 transmission. Staffed by two to four cross-trained personnel and equipped to respond to a variety of fire, rescue, and medical incidents. In addition to the 100-foot hydraulic aerial ladder, carries 226 feet of portable ground ladders and a variety of tools and equipment for rescue, ventilation, entry, and salvage work.

2009 Ford F-550 Super Duty 4×4 Light Rescue Truck. This vehicle carries our Department’s water rescue and diving equipment. We also use this vehicle to tow Marine 1 and our 20-foot technical rescue trailer.

Engine 1
2017 Rosenbauer Commander triple-combination pumper, 1500-gpm waterous pump with 750-gallon water tank, Cummins ISL 450 diesel engine with GreenStar technolgy, Allison 4000 transmission. This engine is staffed by three cross-trained personnel and equipped to respond to a variety of fire, rescue, and medical incidents.
Rescue 1
2017 Rosenbauer Commander Walk-around Style Heavy Rescue, Cummins ISL 500 diesel engine with GreenStar technology, Allison 4000 transmission. Cross-staffed as needed; carries an assortment of additional and specialized tools and equipment to respond to large and/or complex fire, rescue, medical, and hazardous material incidents.
Marine 1
2006 24-foot Boston Whaler fire rescue boat, equipped with twin 200-HP Mercury outboard motors, radar GPS, depth finder, city and marine radio. Also equipped with a 380-gpm fire pump, and Akron stinger nozzle.
