About City Holidays

Customer Service is normally open to the public Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 1625 North Kingshighway. You can also call by phone 573-339-6322, email our staff, or submit comments or inquiries online. Public safety and infrastructure services run 24 hours per day, everyday regardless of holidays and inclement weather. Recreation facilities will keep independent schedules.

2026 Observed Holidays – Offices Closed

  • NEW YEARS DAY  January 1
  • MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. DAY Monday, January 19
  • PRESIDENTS’ DAY Monday, February 16
  • MEMORIAL DAY Monday, May 25
  • JUNETEENTH Friday, June 19
  • INDEPENDENCE DAY Friday, July 3
  • LABOR DAY Monday, September 7
  • COLUMBUS DAY Monday, October 12
  • VETERANS DAY Wednesday, November 11
  • THANKSGIVING Thursday, November 26 & Friday, November 27
  • CHRISTMAS EVE Thursday, December 24
  • CHRISTMAS Friday, December 25
  • NEW YEAR’S DAY Friday, Jan. 1, 2027

During holiday weeks, there will be no Wednesday special pickups.

The solid waste and recycling routes will be run as follows:

  • Monday holiday – Monday’s trash/recycling route will be run on Tuesday. Tuesday’s trash/recycling route will be run on Wednesday. All other routes remain the same.
  • Tuesday holiday – Tuesday’s trash/recycling route will be run on Wednesday. All other routes remain the same.
  • Wednesday holiday – All routes remain the same.
  • Thursday holiday – Thursday’s trash/recycling route will be run on Wednesday. All other routes remain the same.
  • Friday holiday – Thursday’s trash/recycling route will be run on Wednesday, and Friday’s routes will be run on Thursday. All other routes remain the same.
  • Thursday & Friday (Thanksgiving – both Thursday and Friday’s trash and recycling routes will be picked up on Wednesday.)

2026 Council Meeting Date Changes

Meetings are normally on the first and third Mondays. See cityofcape.org/citycouncil for dates, agendas, and details. Months with meetings off-schedule for holidays or other issues include:

  • Monday, January 19, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day – change to Tuesday, January 20
  • Monday, February 16, Presidents’ Day – change to Tuesday, February 17  
  • Monday, September 7, Labor Day – change to Tuesday, September 8
