Description

The City of Cape Girardeau will be holding a public meeting to provide detailed information regarding the upcoming plans for the sidewalk project along Cape Rock Drive. The new sidewalk will begin at the recently constructed crosswalk at the Kingshighway intersection (the First Missouri State Bank corner) and continue along the west side of North Cape Rock from Kingshighway to Brookwood Drive where it will then continue along the north side of West Cape Rock, ending at the northwest corner of the Perryville Road intersection.
The meeting will be held Thursday, November 21st in Room 1A of the Osage Center, 1625 N. Kingshighway.
Temporary construction easements will be necessary on a number of properties so as to maintain acceptable driveway grades. City Acquisition Agent, Thomas Sherwood, will be reaching out at a future date to those whose driveway will benefit from the utilization of a temporary easement. Also, the project will require the removal of trees from the city right of way at a few locations. Locations of temporary easements and tree removals will be available for viewing at the meeting.
Please join City Staff and project consultant, BFW Engineers, any time between 4:30 and 6:00 pm on the 21st to discuss the project and ask questions. The meeting will be open house style with no formal presentation.
If you are unable to attend, preliminary plans which show the sidewalk and easement locations will be available for viewing at CityofCape.org/Development. Final construction plans are expected to be completed in early 2025 with construction presently anticipated to begin in mid-2025.
If you have any questions regarding the project or the public meeting, or for future project updates, please feel free to contact Tim Richmond by phone at (573) 339-6327 or by email at [email protected].
