City of Cape Girardeau – Water System Notice
This morning, the Cape Girardeau Water Plant experienced an electrical failure affecting one of the three main power feeds to the facility. Crews from Ameren UE and partner electrical companies are on-site and working diligently to complete repairs.
To maintain service, Water Plant No. 2 has been activated and is supplying water to the community, with generators currently providing backup power. At this time, all water storage tanks are full, and water quality remains safe and reliable.
While service continues without interruption, the City asks all customers to use water responsibly throughout the day as repairs are finalized.

Additional updates will be provided as needed, and residents should be aware that a boil water advisory may be issued for parts of the city if conditions change.
We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation as crews work to restore full power to the system.

Boil water advisories are sent by phone, text, or email to those previously registered via cityofcape.org/pwalerts.
