Fire Department Swearing In, Promotions Ceremony on Aug. 3

The Cape Girardeau Fire Department on Aug. 3, 2018 held a swearing in and promotion ceremony for five new firefighters and two promoted firefighters. 

The newest firefighters, picutred at right, from left to right, are Jake Sikes, Paden Lee, Zach Schneider, John Chimienti and Chris Miller.

Sikes started with the department in July 2018 and has been a volunteer with the Fredericktown Fire Department. He also currently works part-time with the High Ridge and Farmington fire departments. 

Lee started with the department in July 2018 and has worked for Butler County and Miner fire departments. He also worked for South Scott County Ambulance for six years, with three years as a supervisor.

Schneider started with the department in June 2018 and previously worked with the Gordonvile Fire Department and Jackson Fire Rescue.

Chimienti Started with the department in June 2018 and previously worked with Jackson Fire Rescue for five years. He has also worked with South Scott County, Mississippi County, and Stoddard County ambulance services.

Miller started with the department in October 2017 and was a volunteer with the East County Fire Protection District. He also works part-time with Cape County Private Ambulance.

And congratulations to our two newest Master Firefighters, Justin Siemers and Jason Poole (pictured below). A master firefighter must have worked a minimum of 5 years with the department, be capable of operating all equipment, and mentor probationary firefighters in addition to other duties. Justin has been with the Fire Department since August 2012. Jason has been with the Fire Department since February 2009.

We also welcome our new Administrative Secretary Kim Mangels. Kim is a lifelong resident of Cape Girardeau County and previously worked with several businesses in the area.
