Fire at 555 N. Spring, Lot 22 - March 2, 2019

At 8:33 p.m. on March 2, the Cape Girardeau Fire Department was called to 555 N. Spring St. for a reported trailer on fire. Upon arrival, we found a trailer the was about 30 percent involved. The first engine company made an aggressive interior attack and extinguished the fire along with the help of four other apparatus. The trailer was deemed to be vacant at the time that the fire was called in.  The fire was under control in about 15 minutes. There was extensive overhaul due to the amount of belongings inside.

Sixteen personnel from CGFD were on scene. Jackson Fire Rescue and Scott City Fire was called to the city for mutual aid due to all the units in the city working at the fire scene. Also 3 off duty personnel were called in to staff a reserve apparatus. 

The State Fire Marshal was called in and investigated the fire. The cause was undetermined and is still under investigation at this time.
