City Council will be off-schedule in January and part of February. Meetings will be held the second and fourth Mondays: Jan. 10 and Jan. 24.
In 2022, Council will also begin meeting in their new City Hall location at 44 North Lorimier in the renovated Common Pleas building.
February Meeting Dates
- Monday, Feb. 7 at 5 p.m. (normal schedule)
- Tuesday, Feb. 22 at 5 p.m. (City Hall and other offices will be closed for President's Day)
Under the Council/Manager form of government, the Council establishes policy and law in the city. They have the power by ordinance, resolution and motion to provide for infrastructure, safety, and quality of life services and to tax and regulate in support of those efforts. They also establish, reorganize, abolish, and prescribe the functions of boards, departments, offices, and agencies as they deem necessary. The Council also appoints the City Manager who appoints all but a few (Judge, Attorney, and City Clerk) city employees.
