Designated counties include Cape Girardeau, and Bollinger, Butler, Carter, Cooper, Dunklin, Howell, Iron, Mississippi, New Madrid, Oregon, Ozark, Reynolds, Ripley, Scott, Shannon, Stoddard, Vernon, Washington and Wayne.
State of the City 2025
We are seeing a lot of upgrades around the city, which will create a safer community with more opportunity for everyone. Residents young and old can thrive here, whether you want to continue your education, get training in a trade, develop and grow a business, or engage in public service. The focus of the City of Cape is to serve our residents by providing a solid infrastructure, a safe community, and a healthy economy to engage in. We are seeing big progress right now, with even bigger potential on the horizon. It is truly an exciting time to live in Cape Girardeau! City of Cape Girardeau Inspecting Water Lines
We are randomly selecting homes to verify water line material city-wide. We removed the last of any known lead water mains in the public system a long time ago and we’re working now to verify and expand our records on the service lines connecting homes to water mains. We want you to know if your private water lines pose any health concerns.

The Blue Envelope symbol signals to first responders that the individual or household may need adjusted communication to ensure safety and understanding whether on the road, at home, work or at school.
New Destinations Announced: New Flights Coming Soon!
The updated service schedule will feature 12 weekly round-trip flights to Chicago (ORD). Then in December, the schedule will shift to seven weekly round trips to ORD and five weekly round trips to Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW). Contour Airlines also plans to introduce seasonal, non-subsidized flights from Cape Girardeau to Pensacola, Florida (PNS).
