MS4 Permit Renewal Public Notice Meeting

The city of Cape Girardeau will host a public open house regarding the renewal of its Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System, or MS4, permit.

Residents are invited to review the city’s MS4 program, developed in accordance with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, and provide feedback on how the stormwater management plan should be implemented to best meet community needs.

The open house format allows attendees to drop in at any time between 1 and 6 p.m. to ask questions and submit comments. Public input gathered during the meeting will be considered before the city submits its MS4 permit renewal application.

Cape Girardeau’s MS4 is a system of conveyances designed to collect and transport stormwater, including streets, drainage systems, catch basins, curbs, gutters, ditches, manmade channels and storm drains. These systems are regulated by the state to protect water quality.
