Special Pickups

Public Works’ Solid Waste Division offers Wednesday Special Pickups for large, bulky items, including garage and basement debris, brush and appliances. These are done on Wednesdays and must be scheduled by 3 p.m. the Tuesday before. Residents simply decide which Wednesday they would like and call us at 573-339-6351 to check availability and schedule. Each residential trash customer is allowed one free Wednesday Special Pickup per calendar year. This pickup provides an annual disposal option for extra refuse, bulky items and appliances. A limited number of free pickups are available each week so schedule early.

Items should be placed at the curb where the regular trash is picked up, and all small, loose items must be in boxes or bags. Appliances and yard waste must be kept separate from household trash and will be picked up by a different truck. Trash and recycling carts will not be emptied during a special pickup.

Doors must be removed from refrigerators and freezers and the appliances must be empty.

Limbs and brush must be no longer than four feet and tied together in bundles no larger than 18 inches in diameter and weigh no more than 75 pounds. Limbs and brush not bundled will not be picked up.

The following Items are not accepted for Wednesday Special Pickups: Tires, batteries, oil, concrete, railroad ties, automobile parts, pesticides, oil-based paint, or hazardous materials.
