The Cape Girardeau Police Department welcomes civic and student groups to tour the Police Department. Tours are offered by appointment only and conducted during the Department’s business hours which are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Request for tours must be made at least 14 days in advance.

Tour groups learn about the responsibilities of the Department, our personnel, and police equipment through activities that are both fun and educational. Most areas of the Police Department will be toured as long as no sensitive business or  investigations are being conducted at the time of your tour. Police patrol cars are  available for the group to tour as well. An average tour is approximately 30-40 minutes long.

Tours may be terminated if groups are disruptive, therefore, we ask there be an appropriate number of adults to provide supervision for student group tours.

To schedule a tour, please contact Ptlm. Bobby Newton at 573-335-6621, Extension 1393. Be prepared to provide the following information:

  • Name of organization
  • Date and time requested
  • Number of people in your group. If it is a student group, please provide us with their general age and the number of adults that will be touring.
Please Note:  Because we have officers responsible for scheduling group tours, tour times and availability are subject to their schedules as they have other Department responsibilities (i.e., officer training, meetings, etc.)
