About the Special Business District Advisory Commission

Supervises operations of the Downtown Special Business District. Five citizen advisors serve three year terms and are appointed by the City Council. The City Manager or his designee shall serve as an ex officio member.

The Special Business District Advisory Commission is responsible for the development and maintenance of an overall plan of action for the Special Business District. This plan will be construed to be the major policy instrument of the district, and all expenditures and activities are to be reviewed in light of the plan. This plan shall be consistent with the comprehensive development plan of the city.

The Special Business District Advisory Commission consists of five members, chosen from individuals who own property or operate a municipally licensed business within the boundaries of the district. The Chairman, Vice Chairman and Secretary-Treasurer of the Special Business District Advisory Commission shall function as an executive committee, and the members of the Advisory Commission may create such other committees as they deem necessary.

Meeting Schedule

Meetings are called by the Commission Chairman.  The Special Business District Advisory Commission is required to hold at least one meeting a year, to which all individuals owning property and/or operating a municipally licensed business within the boundaries of the district are actively encouraged to attend with the expressed purpose of reviewing and updating the plan.
