Development projects require due diligence and coordination in order to avoid mistakes and conflicts that can delay schedules and increase costs. A predevelopment meeting is the best way to share information about a project and to verify the applicable requirements. The City offers predevelopment meetings for projects involving new development, redevelopment, or expansion. To request a predevelopment meeting, complete the Predevelopment Meeting Request Form and submit it via email to [email protected] or deliver to: City of Cape Girardeau, Planning Services Division, 44 North Lorimier Street, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701. There is no fee.
The predevelopment team, consisting of Community Development Department staff (and other staff as appropriate), is available on Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. for predevelopment meetings at City Hall, located at 44 North Lorimier Street. Video conferencing is available. The City has a geographic information system (GIS) and access to County parcel records. The contact for the project is expected to provide, at a minimum, a scaled preliminary site plan (PDF format is preferred for electronic files). The City’s Code of Ordinances is accessible online at https://library.municode.com/mo/cape_girardeau/codes/code_of_ordinances. The City’s GIS maps are accessible online at https://cocg.maps.arcgis.com/home/index.html.
