Aquatic Facilities Reopening July 8 (July 5, 2020)
Cape Splash & Central Municipal Pool will reopen to the public on Wednesday, July 8. River Walking, Swimnastics, swim lessons & Preschool Playtime will continue tomorrow, Monday, July 6, as scheduled at both facilities. Cape Splash will continue to operate at 50% capacity (plus season pass holders) with the two session format (11AM-2PM & 3PM-6PM) to allow for additional cleaning between sessions. Please note that all staff that was in contact with the COVID-19 positive part-time employee has been removed from the schedule for the appropriate 14 day quarantine period. Potential Community Exposure at Cape Splash

Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center and the City of Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department are notifying the public of potential community exposure from a COVID-19 positive case.
While performing contact tracing on a positive case reported to the Girardeau County Public Health Center, we have determined that individuals that attended activities at the Cape Splash Family Aquatic Center in Cape Girardeau on the following dates at the specified times may have been exposed.

- June 25th - July 2nd

We strongly encourage anyone who was at the Cape Splash during this time period to closely monitor themselves for signs and symptoms due to the potential exposure. We also strongly encourage the use of facemasks or coverings by all those potentially exposed when outside of their home in public and while at work.

If you develop any symptoms that are consistent with COVID-19 please self-isolate immediately and contact your primary care physician to determine the need for testing.
We are working closely with the Parks and Recreation Department, and feel confident that they are taking all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of their patrons.
This is yet another reminder for all of us to interact with our environment carefully. When we go out in public, we need to practice physical distancing and wear a mask. If someone is sick or thinks they may be sick, they need to stay home.

SportsPlex Reopening July 6 (July 5, 2020)

The SportsPlex will be reopening beginning Monday, July 6, after a potential community exposure to COVID-19. The facility was thoroughly cleaned & sanitized while closed. Upon reopening, all customer service staff will be wearing masks, and we strongly recommend all spectators and non athletes wear masks, too. Please note that all staff that was in contact with the COVID-19 positive part-time employee has been removed from the schedule for the appropriate 14 day quarantine period. League directors will be in contact with participants about any schedule changes. Potential Community Exposure at the SportsPlex & Shawnee Park Sports Complex

The Cape Girardeau County Public Health Department and the City of Cape Girardeau Parks & Recreation Department are notifying the public of a potential community exposure from a COVID-19 positive case at the SportsPlex and Shawnee Park Sports Complex. If you have attended the SportsPlex or Shawnee Park Sports Complex on any of the below dates please be advised of potential exposure and follow the directives of the Health Department as listed below. The SportsPlex is currently closed and will undergo a thorough cleaning before reopening. Please direct any questions related to potential exposure to the Health Department at 573-335-7846. If you are a current participant in a program or league at the SportsPlex, you will be contacted about any potential schedule changes.

Further exposure may have occurred at the Shawnee Sports Complex on June 23, 5:30pm – 10:45pm.

Jaycee Golf Course Modified Hours & Potential Community Exposure
(July 4, 2020)

The Cape Jaycee Municipal Golf Course will be on a modified schedule this weekend due to a COVID-19 positive part time employee. All staff that has been in contact with the employee has been removed from the scheduled for the appropriate 14 day quarantine period. The course will be open from 7:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. with no tee times beginning after 10:00 a.m. for Saturday, July 4 & Sunday, July 5. Staff is working on contacting any tee times after 10:00 a.m. this weekend. You can also contact the Pro Shop with any questions regarding tee times at 573-334-2031. Any modifications to course hours for the following weeks will be posted on Facebook & the City’s website.

Reopening Guidelines (Statement from May 29, 2020)
Beginning June 1, 2020 the City of Cape Girardeau Parks & Recreation Department will be entering into Phase 1A of its reopening plan. Operations will follow the protocol set forth by local authorities.

During Phase 1A all programming will resume. Programming, including classes, camps, leagues, tournaments and events, will have increased sanitation of equipment, and participants and spectators will be asked to honor social distancing when possible. We recommend that the number of customers at sporting and rental events is limited to help follow social distancing guidelines. League and program directors will be in contact with participants about specific program details. If you have a rental at a Parks & Recreation facility, please contact the facility supervisor to learn about additional guidelines for your rental.

All facilities and outdoor amenities, including playgrounds & skate parks, are open (see aquatic facility exceptions below). Indoor facilities will continue to have increased sanitation and games will be allowed. Outdoor amenities will be sanitized on a limited basis. We ask that customers honor social distancing when possible.

Cape Splash and Central Municipal Pool will open in June. River Walking & Preschool Playtime will start on June 1 at Cape Splash, and public hours will begin on Monday, June 8. Cape Splash will have limited capacity and a reduction in hours during the month of June. Central Municipal Pool will open mid-June at a limited capacity and a reduction in hours. Customers should acknowledge that there is a risk of exposure to COVID-19 when entering a public facility, and participation is at your own risk. If you have been sick in the past two weeks, avoid entry into public facilities. - If you have been sick in the past two weeks, PLEASE AVOID ENTRY INTO PUBLIC FACILITIES.
- Please keep 6 feet social distancing when possible.
- We advise that you wear protective face covering.
- Our staff has enhanced sanitation efforts. We ask that you practice proper sanitation as well. You take full responsibility for sanitation of your hands and anything you touch.
