In June of 2004 the voters of Cape Girardeau passed a ¼ cent Fire Sales Tax by an overwhelming majority of 82%.  The tax will generate an estimated 10 million dollars in revenue over the next 10 years for capital improvements and operating costs in the city’s public safety departments.  These revenues are being tracked through the city’s Public Safety Trust Fund to read additional information click on the link below.
