The Water Division of Public Works has been operated and maintained by Alliance Water Resources since June 3, 1992, when the water system was purchased by the City from Union Electric.

Application for service and billing inquiries can be made at the Customer Service Office at City Hall, 401 Independence, (573) 339-6322. 

Our Water Division

Provides safe, clean water service to the City of Cape Girardeau. 

Operates main treatment plant 24 hours per day with 10.3 million gallons per day total capacity, and average daily flow of 6.5 million gallons.

Service and maintains nine remote pumping and storage sites with total capacity of 8.505 million gallons.

Performs water quality analyses to insure public health and compliance with state and federal drinking water quality regulations.  Access the Consumer Confidence Report to see information about the City of Cape ’s water quality.   The 2009 Consumer Confidence Report will be released in April of 2010.

Maintains and repairs 300 miles of water mains, including service connections up to property lines.

Reads over 16,215 meters per month.

Responds to 1,500 customer service calls per month.
