ZONING CODE UPDATE: The City of Cape Girardeau is revising the zoning ordinance. Public comment and discussion is encouraged. Proposed changes have been posted and public meetings are scheduled.
Services Provided
The Division of Planning Services performs many different services for the citizens of Cape Girardeau. These services include planning and zoning issues, housing programs, enterprise zone, property acquisitions for new streets and utilities, downtown revitalization, historic preservation, administration of State and Federal Grants, and staff support for the Planning and Zoning Commission, the Historic Preservation Commission, the Downtown Special Business District, the City Council and City Manager's Office. The Division also administers annexations, rezoning applications, special use permit applications, historic landmark applications, Certificate of Appropriateness, subdivision plats, and zoning violations.
