Parking Violation Notice

Parking Violation Notice tickets are not issued by the Municipal Court. The court serves as a collection agency for payment of fines from parking violation. Questions about the issuance of a ticket should be directed to the issuing agency or a description of the violation may be found in the City of Cape Girardeau's Code of Ordnances. (Chapter 26 Article VI - Stopping, Standing and Parking.)

If you are requesting a court appearance on a parking violation you must request a Uniform Citation from the Cape Girardeau Police Department for a court date. The initial parking ticket placed on your vehicle is not a Citation, only a notice that a violation has been committed.

Paying a Parking Ticket

Parking ticket payments are due seven days from issuance. Payment may be made at the Municipal Court office located at the City Hall building, Monday - Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at 401 Independence in Cape Girardeau , Missouri or by mail in the ticket envelope.

Payment of a improper parking violation over 7 days :

Thirty-Five Dollars ($35.00) from date of violation; Forty-Five Dollars ($45.00) 30 days from date of violation.

Payment of handicapped parking violation over 7 days:

One-Hundred Dollars ($100.00) from date of violation. 

An unpaid parking ticket over 30 days will result in a Uniform Ciatation issued to the owner of the vehicle. This will increase your payment by $26.50 court cost fees. Failure to pay or appear in court will result in a warrant being issued for your arrest.

Notice to Violators of Minor Traffic Violations

All Uniform Citation tickets require you to appear in person before the Municipal Court Judge on the date and time indicated at the top left hand corner of the citation, unless you wish to plead guilty in writing and pay your fine and costs by mail or at  the Court Office before 5:00 p.m. the day prior to your court date. See the "Fee Schedule" below if a non-appearance is available for the offense you were cited for.

Only those violations listed below may be paid by mail. You must appear in Court if you were involved in an accident. If your violation is listed and you wish to plead guilty without coming to court, follow these steps:

1. Sign your name to the "Appearance, Plea of Guilty and Waiver" on the back of the ticket.

2. Include a Money Order or Cashier's Check payable to: Municipal Court of Cape Girardeau

3. Enclose ticket and payment in envelope:

a.) Use Court Envelope if one was provided for you;

b.) Mail to:             Cape Girardeau Municipal Court            401 Independence            Cape Girardeau, MO 63703

Payment must be received by 5:00 p.m. the day before your court date.

If it is your intention to plead NOT GUILTY to the violation, you must appear in court on the date and time indicated at the top left hand corner of your citation.

WARNING: A warrant will be issued for your arrest (or) a Suspension of your Drivers License will occur IF you fail to appear in court or your payment has not been received by your scheduled appearance date.
