The Municipal Court for the City of Cape Girardeau is a division of the Circuit Court of Cape Girardeau County, 32nd Judicial Circuit. Cases in Municipal Court involve alleged violations of municipal ordinances of the City of Cape Girardeau. The City Prosecutor files all the cases heard in Municipal Court. Court is in session every Tuesday and Thursday in the Courtroom at City Hall.
The Court is staffed by a part-time Municipal Judge, a Court Administrator and three court clerks. A traffic violations bureau is located in the Municipal Court Office at the City Hall and many citations can be paid at the violations window. These fines can be paid Monday - Friday between 7:30a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Certain citations will require a court appearance. If you have received a ticket/summons for a municipal ordinance violation, you have certain rights and responsibilities.
