No. the City Attorney's Office serves solely as the legal counsel to the City Council and City Staff regarding City business. |

Can I have a public defender appointed to represent me in Municipal Court for my ordinance violation?
No. The public defender system of the State of Missouri only represents defendants charged with a state misdemeanor or felony offense. Those crimes are not heard in Municipal Court. |

Must I appear in court if I was served with a municipal subpoena?
Yes. A properly served subpoena constitutes an Order of the Court, which citizens must obey or be subject to possible punishment ranging from a fine of up to $500 and a jail sentence of up to 90 days. |
