Today the Cape Girardeau Fire Department hosted Grain Bin Rescue Training. Members from area departments attended as well as the Cape Girardeau Fire Department Technical Rescue Team members. The morning was spent in a classroom setting that emphasized the inherent dangers associated with grain bins. Time was spent discussing the number of fatalities and close calls that happen annually both nationally and locally. This information instills safety in and around grain bins and provides rescue teams with useful tools to safely respond to emergencies.

The afternoon was spent on practical skills training using a ResQ Tube and associated equipment. The ResQ Tube, equipment and training were provided by generous donations from Agri Systems of Cape and Jackson, Co-op Service Center of Jackson-Whitewater, MFA Agri-Services of Jackson, Auto Tire and Parts, Fisher Auto Parts of Jackson, and Mid West Grain and Barge.  Grain product was supplied by Consolidated Grain and Barge.
