Council Summary
The City Council is the elected governing body for the City of Cape Girardeau. The City Council consists of the Mayor and six City Council Members. The Mayor is directly elected at-large (city-wide) for a four-year term and the City Council Members are elected from six wards for staggered four-year terms. Cape Girardeau is a "home rule" city with the Council-Manager form of government. |

Meeting Schedule
City Council meetings are held on the first and third Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at City Hall. The Council also meets at 5:00 p.m. for a Study Session prior to the each meeting. Both meetings are open to the public. Meeting agendas are posted online the Friday before each meeting.
